The information below will help you get the most out of our services – and help Ulster Sanitation (U.S.) serve you better.

• Waste and recyclables should be ready for collection by 6:00 a.m. per the pick-up schedule for your area. We recommend putting the toter carts out the night before within five feet of the curb.
• If you do not have your items out by this time, or we do not have complete access to your items, we will not be able to return to collect your items that week if your pick up is missed.
• If you request that we re-attempt your service due to your items not being accessible or ready for pick up by 6:00 a.m., a service charge will apply to your invoice to cover this pick up.
• A reasonable amount of waste — 1-2 cubic yards or four 30-gallon bags — will be collected on a weekly basis provided that it fits within your toter carts, to facilitate easy collection. Additional charges may apply for amounts exceeding this limit.
• Please follow the recycling standards when determining what to include in your recycling toter cart or bin.
• Contractor’s building waste, dirt, rocks, sod, trees, grass clippings, concrete and similar items cannot be handled by our residential equipment. Please contact U.S. to arrange for roll-off service.
• Contact Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency at 845-336-0600 to remove paints, oil, solvents, hazardous and e-waste. Call U.S. to schedule pick-up for yard waste, including lawn clippings, leaves, sticks, small branches.
• Call U.S. to schedule an appointment for pickups such as: yard waste, including lawn clippings, leaves, sticks, small branches, and large items that do not fit in the toter cart, including couches, mattresses, kitchen appliances, etc. A $50 pickup/transfer fee will be applied plus the tipping fee, which is determined by the weight of the item(s).
• There is a $30.00 charge for returned checks.
• Please note that if your service is suspended due to non-payment, there will be a $25.00 re-instatement charge to resume service.
• Upon any cancelation of service, non-returned U.S. toter carts will be billed at $89.00 (plus applicable sales tax).

• If your account is more than 15 days past due, your pick-up service will be suspended until a full payment is received.
